About Us

MV Silverado operates from Perth exploring the wonderful coastline of Western Australia from the south coast to the Kimberley region. We specialise in custom charters, giving our clients a large boat experience with small passenger numbers – up to ten guests for tours with overnight stays and up to 48 for day trips. We have a strong safety first focus and can provide a safe surveyed work platform for government agencies to utilise in the northern or southern regions of Western Australia.

We may be new to the charter market but our crew isn't with a combined forty years of experience on the ocean.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard and giving you an experience you'll remember forever!

Our Crew

Our crew becomes 'your crew' when you join us on board.

The Captain: Ash Nesbit is a Master 5 and MED 2, with an added Boilermaker Cert 4 in OHS. Ash has spent most of his life on the ocean – he is an accomplished waterman, surfing, free diving, and fishing and open ocean paddling are his passions. Running charters and paddling most of the WA coast for many years, you are in safe hands with Ash. He also enjoys cooking, so most of your seafood meals will be cooked by him.

Engineer and First Mate: Mike Dowson – where do you start with this motor cycle champion, also a Master 5 and MED 2 and an outstanding marine and automotive mechanic by trade. Mike is also very at home in the water – some call him the dolphin whisperer! Mike enjoys a chat, has a wealth of information and if you can't find him he's in one of two places – in the water or in the engine room.

The Boss Deckie: Joanne Dowson – Boss of Mike, Jo is an accomplished business woman running her own charter business on the Collie River in the summer months. Jo also holds a Commercial Coxswains Certificate. Jo helps with many operational matters on Silverado and she knows where everything is! Jo and Ash work together with the cooking but Jo does most of the preparation while the fish are cleaned and prepared.

Our Vessels

MV Silverado is a luxury 24 x 8.3m catamaran. With well-appointed long-haul live aboard facilities, Silverado comfortably sleeps up to ten passengers in five cabins and four bathrooms. She is a three level catamaran with lower levels consisting of machinery rooms, laundry and scullery and crew rooms. Main level forward has three bedrooms with ensuites, mid-deck lounge room, kitchen and large main rear deck entertaining area: two toilets also service this area. The upstairs area is perfect for watching the sunsets or watching whales and dolphins playing in our beautiful oceans or river systems.

Silverado is powered by Twin MTU 183 TE72 V12 engines, economical speed is around 12 knots but she is capable of cruising at 20+ knots if needed. She runs two gensets to cover all the vessel's power needs while on charter and a 140 litres per hour desalination plant to keep her 2000 litres of fresh water topped up.

Silverado is perfect for custom expeditions inclu ding whale watching, surfing, diving, spear fishing and snorkelling. She has her own dive cylinder fill compressor and hydraulic rear swim deck platform.

With a spacious covered rear deck, sun-lounging front and balcony decks, Silverado comfortably hosts up to 48 people on day trips and is perfect for corporate functions, team-building days, weddings, celebrations and private ferrying on Perth waters and to Rottnest Island.

MV Pseudorca is an 8.3m catamaran powered by twin 225hp engines and is used as the service and day vessel for Silverado during live aboard trips. In a previous life Pseudorca was a government Department of Wildlife vessel, named after a species of whales. Pseudorca is towed or driven between anchorages while on charter.

TT Silverado is our 4.2m catamaran tender (otherwise called Little Yellow or Banana). She is powered by a power trim and tilt electric start 30hp Tohatsu engine. Built by FINN Kayaks she is extremely stable and strong for a small vessel. She sits securely on the swim platform while Silverado on the move.

Having these boats in the water whilst you are swimming or snorkelling is another added safety feature and cannot be underestimated.
